The Corporate Finance program is articulated around 5 sessions, covering the main aspects of the interview process:
Technical 1 - Accounting mechanics & financial statement analysis + technical itw questions
- Core accounting, covering essential concepts such as the accounting equation, double-entry bookkeeping, and the recognition of revenue and expenses.
- Mechanics of financial statements, including preparation and interpretation of the three financial statements (balance sheet, P&L and cash flows), emphasizing how they interrelate. Understand their critical role in maintaining liquidity and ensuring the sustainability of business operations.
Technical 2 - Modelling & Valuation + technical itw questions
- Modelling best practices, where you'll learn how to build robust, flexible, and error-free financial models. These practices ensure your models are easy to understand, audit, and modify.
- Mathematics in finance (CAGR, interests rates and discounting, etc.)
- Valuation principles and methods, including discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis, comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions.
- Understand the mechanics of the EV-to-Equity bridge
Technical 3 - Investment Banking processes + technical itw questions
- Walk through the M&A process, detailing each phase from initial target identification and strategic rationale to negotiation, deal structuring, and closing.
- Cover the Due Diligence process, where we'll discuss how to conduct thorough investigations into a target company's financials, operations, legal standing, and market position to uncover potential risks and validate the investment thesis.
- Understand the LBO process, which involves acquiring a company using a significant amount of borrowed funds, and learn how to master the LBO paper, a must have of the standard interview process.
- Master the Accretion/Dilution analysis, used to determine whether a proposed merger or acquisition will increase (accretion) or decrease (dilution) the acquiring company's earnings per share (EPS).
Non-technical interview preparation
- Discuss the HR call, focusing on how to present yourself, answer common questions, and convey your strengths effectively.
- Delve into psychometric tests (Abstract, Verbal, Reasoning), designed to measure your cognitive abilities, personality traits, and behavioral tendencies, providing insights into their suitability for specific roles or environments.
- Prepare for traditional fit questions.
- Advice on to behave during HR business cases.
Mock interview & Technical business case
- Reminder of the core strategy principles (Porter's 5 forces, Business Model Canvas, etc.).
